Socks and more socks
Here is the latest pair in progress. I'm actually on my second sock and a littl past this point. Watched To Kill a Mockingbird tonight. Hadn't seen it since the mid sixties but still liked it. Good ole Atticus. Actually had a patient name her baby Atticus last Fall. I should post all the socks I've made this yaar. After completing a bunch of wool socks for winter we had one of the mildest winters I can remember here in Illinois. Our spring had been glorius with tulips and daffadils blooming the last week or so of March. Gardening fever rampant everywhere.

China Doll Project
My latest project was mending this china doll rescued from a discard pile of a doll collector. I think the sawdust was the downfall of her muslin body rotting away. It looks like she was mended before with patchwork repair to the waist but I decided to go all the distance and give her a new body. This time i used cotton quilt batting for the stuffing. I adjusted her leg length after the finished photo was taken.
I used a pattern I had from the early sixties when I was a preteen making reproduction china head dolls from an extinct San Fransisco company call Mark Farmer. I had saved the body pattern in a little blue stationary envelope with child like cursive writing on it. Nowadays that would be a novelty as it would be computer printed wouldn't it? I knew I saved that pattern from way back then for a reason and through numerous reductions in gathered craft projects. Here are photos to show the new body.
If only it was this quick and simple for us huh?

Sock it to me time
Here is the ongoning sock project for this winter. After seaching local stores for a common 'orlan' type knitted sock and only coming up with nylon stretchy versions which are too thin and uncomfortable I broke into the finger weight yarn stash to make my own sock. I am on my third and hopefully final version after the heel turn phase. So far so good. Really pretty wool yarn. But these maybe too thick. Certainly will be toasty warm though.
Here is a picture of the sock in progress. May the mate to this one go much faster or it will be spring.

Projects for a Snowed In Week
I took advantage of being snowed in to finish a variety of projects. Being forewarned of an oncoming big snow that so far had gone south and east of us all season long I stocked up on the essentials of life, food and TP and settled in. The snow is beautiful after looking at gray and black scenery all winter. Here is a photo of the snow and the projects.

I figured out the pattern
The first clog took over a year of being a UFO before attempting the pattern instructions again. The second clog of the pair flew off the needles. The felting was a two part process with several days drying in between. They still have slippery soles but they are so toasty warm in this artic weather. Here is a photo of them... they do even LOOK like clogs. Ha

Christmas , yes again this year!
I spent the better part of Friday night watching a Rolling Stones new movie on VH1 and making Christmas cards. Not exactly traditional but it worked. Here is an array of the eight cards it took me all evening to make. Each one is different. Some 'special' friends will be getting one of these.. lucky you!

Summer days
I've been finishing dresses for Bleuette. Just the handsewing for finishing touches. She has so many paterns I'd like to try but my days seem to fly by while I thumb through the pages of the pattern notebooks I keep.
Here are some dresses I've completed recently.
